The active ingredient present in Kz 2% cream is Ketoconazole in strength of 2%.
Kz Cream Uses
Kz 2% Cream is an azole antifungal used for topical treatment of skin infections such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and certain kinds of dandruff in immunocompetent adults and children 12 years of age and older.
Kz Cream (Ketoconazole 2%) is also used for the treatment of a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs as well as yeast infections of the skin (Seborrheic Dermatitis). Ketoconazole is a broad-spectrum azole antifungal that works by stopping the growth of fungus.
After you start using Kz Cream, your symptoms should improve in a few days at the beginning of your treatment. However you must continue to use Kz 2% cream even if you are feeling well. If you stop using Kz cream too quickly, your infection may not be completely cured and your symptoms may return.
Kz 2% Cream Dosage

It is recommended that Ketoconazole Cream 2% be applied once daily to fully cover the affected and immediate surrounding area. Clinical improvement will be seen fairly soon after treatment is begun; however, candidal infections and tinea cruris and corporis must be treated for two weeks in order to reduce the possibility of recurrence. Two weeks of treatment is usually necessary for patients with tinea versicolor. Patients with tinea pedis will require six weeks of treatment. Seborrheic Dermatitis:
Kz Cream (Ketoconazole 2%) should be applied to the affected area twice a day for four weeks or until clinical clearing.
If your symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks, inform your doctor.
How to Use Kz 2% Cream
Always use Kz Cream (Ketoconazole 2%) exactly as your doctor has told you. Please check with doctor or pharmacist in case you are not sure. How often you should use Kz cream will depend on the type of infection being treated and how serious it is. Your doctor will inform you how often to use this cream and for how long.
Wash the infected skin and dry it well. Each tube of Kz cream is sealed. You will need to use the cap to pierce the seal when using the tube for the first time.
Rub the cream gently into the affected area and surrounding skin with clean fingers.
Kz 2% Cream - Missed Dose Instructions
Apply the missed dose of Kz 2% Cream as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose of the medication to make up for a missed one.

Kz Cream - Storage Instructions
Keep Kz Cream in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children and pets. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (Do not keep it in the bathroom). Protect the medicine from light and do not allow it to freeze.
Side effects of Kz Cream
Kz cream 2% is generally well tolerated by the skin. The common side effects of Kz Cream occurring in 2% or more of the patients treated with Ketoconazole 2% cream are severe irritation, pruritus and stinging. Rare side effects include painful allergic reaction. From postmarketing experience, rare reports of contact dermatitis have been associated with Ketoconazole 2% cream or one of its inactive ingredients, namely propylene glycol.
Warnings & Precautions When Using Kz Cream
Kz Cream, 2% is not for opthalmic use. Do not put Kz cream in the eyes.
Ketoconazole 2% Cream contains sodium sulfite anhydrous, a sulfite that may cause allergic-type reactions including anaphylactic symptoms and life-threatening or less severe asthmatic episodes in certain susceptible people. The overall prevalence of sulfite sensitivity in the general population is unknown and probably low. Sulfite sensitivity occurs more frequently in asthmatic than in nonasthmatic people.
If a reaction which suggests sensitivity or chemical irritation occurs, use of the medication should be discontinued.
Ketoconazole 2% Cream During Pregnancy
Ketoconazole (Kz Cream) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category C.
Ketoconazole has been shown to be teratogenic during clinical studies conducted in rats when given orally in the diet at 80 mg/kg/day, (10 times the maximum recommended human oral dose).
There are however no adequate and well-controlled studies conducted in pregnant women. Ketoconazole 2% cream should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Do not use Kz Cream without your doctor's consent in case you are pregnant. Stop using Kz Cream and inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant during treatment.
Kz Cream Nursing Considerations
It is not known whether Ketoconazole cream, 2% administered topically could result in sufficient systemic absorption to produce detectable quantities in breast milk. Nevertheless, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or discontinue Kz Cream, taking into account the importance of this medication to the mother.
Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
