Fincar (Generic Proscar) tablets are indicated for the treatment of symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in patients with an enlarged prostate to improve symptoms, reduce the risk of acute urinary retention and reduce the risk of the need for surgery including transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and prostatectomy.

Generic Proscar in combination with the alpha-blocker doxazosin is used to reduce the risk of symptomatic progression of BPH. Fincar tablets are manufactured by Cipla Ltd. in the strengths of 5 mg. We also have in stock Finpecia (Finasteride 1 mg tablets) which is used to treat hair loss in men.

Active Ingredient present in Fincar Tablets

The active ingredient present in Fincar tablets is Finasteride. Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg of Finasteride USP.

Uses of Generic Proscar (Fincar by Cipla)

Finasteride 5 mg tablets is prescribed to treat symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (known as BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate. Generic Proscar (Finasteride 5 mg) actively improves the symptoms, reduces the risk of acute urinary retention, and reduces the risk of the need for surgery including transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and prostatectomy.

Generic Proscar (Finasteride 5 mg) may be combined with the alpha-blocker doxazosin (sold under the brand name Cardura) to reduce the risk of symptomatic progression of BPH (a confirmed ≥4 point increase in AUA symptom score).

Fincar Side effects

The common Fincar side effects reported in 1% or more of the patients treated with Fincat tablets (Finasteride) and greater than in patients treated with placebo are impotence, decreased libido, decreased volume of ejaculate, breast enlargement, breast tenderness and rash

The other common side effects of Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar) include:
• trouble getting or keeping an erection (impotence)
• decrease in sex drive
• ejaculation disorders
• enlarged or painful breast - you should promptly report to your doctor any changes in your breasts such as lumps, pain or nipple discharge

• allergic reactions, including rash, itching, hives, and swelling of the lips and face
• rarely, some men may have testicular pain
• in rare cases, male breast cancer has been reported

Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg) are coated and will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the tablets have not been broken or crushed.

A doctor should access if you have other conditions such as infection, prostate cancer, stricture disease, hypotonic bladder, or other neurogenic disorders that might mimic BPH before initiating therapy with Fincar tablets by Cipla (Generic Proscar, finasteride 5mg).
