Cabgolin Tablets (Generic Cabergoline) is prescribed to reduce the body's level of a hormone known as prolactin. Generic Cabergoline may be needed if your levels of prolactin are abnormally high (hyperprolactinaemia). Cabgolin tablets are also used to prevent the production of milk in women after birth, if breast-feeding is to be prevented for medical reasons.
Cabgolin tablets are manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. in the strengths of 0.5 mg and 0.25 mg. We also have in stock Generic Dostinex (Caberlin tablets) which is also used to treat the same indications.

Active Ingredient present in Cabgolin Tablets
The active ingredient present in Cabgolin tablets is Cabergoline. Each Cabgolin tablet contains 0.5 mg or 0.25 mg of Cabergoline.
Uses of Generic Cabergoline (Cabgolin by Sun Pharma)
Cabgolin is used to treat a hormone imbalance in which there is too much prolactin in the blood (also called hyperprolactinemia).
We supply Cabgolin manufactured by Sun Pharma. It is also known as generic Dostinex.

Generic Cabergoline Dosage
The dosage of Generic Cabergoline tablets (Cabgolin) for various indications is given below:
Inhibition Of Physiological Lactation:
Generic Cabergoline tablets should be administered during the first day post-partum. The recommended dose is 1 mg (two 0.5mg tablets) as a single dose.
Treatment Of Hyperprolactinaemic Disorders:
The recommended initial dosage of Generic Cabergoline tablets is 0.5 mg per week given in one or two (½ of a 0.5mg tablet) doses (e.g. on Monday and Thursday) per week. The weekly dose should be increased gradually preferably by adding 0.5 mg per week at monthly intervals until the optimal therapeutic response is achieved.
Cabgolin Contraindications
Cabgolin tablets (Generic Cabergoline) are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Cabergoline, any inactive ingredient present in Cabgolin tablets or any ergot alkaloid. Cabgolin tablets are contraindicated in patients with a history of pulmonary, pericardial and retroperitoneal fibrotic disorders.
Storage Instructions for Cabgolin Tablets
Store Cabgolin tablets at controlled room temperature 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Keep away from children and pets.
Cabergoline Side Effects
Most Cabergoline side effects were mild or moderate in severity. The common side effects of Cabgolin tablets are
Gastrointestinal: Nausea, Constipation, Abdominal pain, Dyspepsia and Vomiting
Central and Peripheral Nervous System: Headache, Dizziness, Paresthesia and Vertigo

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using cabergoline and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

· feeling light-headed, fainting
Less serious side effects may include:
· nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation
· headache
· dizziness, drowsiness, nervousness
· numbness or tingly feeling
· hot flashes

Warnings and Precautions When Using Cabgolin Tablets
Do not use Cabgolin if you are allergic to cabergoline, or if you have:
• uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension)
• hypertension caused by pregnancy, including eclampsia and preeclampsia
• if you are allergic to any type of ergot medicine such as ergotamine (Ergomar, Cafergot), dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45, Migranal Nasal Spray), ergonovine (Ergotrate), or methylergonovine (Methergine)
Before taking cabergoline, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have:
• liver disease;
• heart disease
• a breathing disorder
If you have any of these conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take this medication.
Take Cabgolin exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take caberline in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
Your doctor may occasionally change your dose to make sure you get the best results from this medication.
Cabergoline is usually taken twice each week for at least 6 months. Do not take this medication every day unless your doctor tells you to.
To be sure Cabgolin by Sun Pharma is helping your condition, your blood will need to be tested on a regular basis to measure your prolactin levels. Your doctor may want to continue checking your prolactin levels for several months after you stop taking cabergoline. Do not miss any scheduled appointments.
Cabgolin Overdosage
Cabgolin Overdosage might be expected to produce nasal congestion, syncope, or hallucinations. Measures to support blood pressure must be taken if necessary.
Generic Cabergoline During Pregnancy
Cabergoline has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. Reproduction studies have been conducted with Cabergoline in mice, rats, and rabbits administered by gavage. It was observed that there were maternotoxic effects but no teratogenic effects in mice given Cabergoline at doses up to 8 mg/kg/day (approximately 55 times the maximum recommended human dose) during the period of organogenesis.
Do not use this medicine without your doctor's consent in case you are pregnant. Stop using this medication and inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant during treatment.
Cabergoline Nursing Considerations
It is not known whether Cabergoline is excreted in human milk. Since many drugs are excreted in human milk and because of the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants from Cabergoline, a decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue Generic Cabergoline tablets, taking into account the importance of the medicine to the mother.
Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
