Generic Celebrex (Cobix capsules) is used in the treatment of joint pain, tenderness, swelling and stiffness in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
Generic Celebrex is also used for the relief of short-term pain, in cases such as menstrual cramps (period pain), following surgery as well as dental pain.
Celecoxib belongs to a class of medications called Coxibs which are used to relieve pain and inflammation in a number of medical conditions.

The active ingredient present in Cobix capsules is Celecoxib. Each Cobix capsules contains 100 mg or 200 mg of Celecoxib.
Uses of Generic Celebrex (Cobix Capsules by Cipla)
Celecoxib tablets (Cobix capsules) are used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and menstrual pain. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Cobix (Generic Celebrex) belongs to a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is also used in the treatment of hereditary polyps in the colon.
We supply Cobix capsules by Cipla which is also known as Generic Celebrex. Each Cobix capsule contains either 100 mg of Celecoxib or 200 mg of Celecoxib.
Generic Celebrex (Cobix Capsules) - Dosage
The lowest possible dose of Cobix capsules for the shortest duration has to be used keeping in view the treatment objectives for the patient being treated. The dosage of Generic Celebrex for various indications is given below:
Osteoarthritis (OA):
200 mg once daily or 100 mg twice daily
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA):
100 to 200 mg twice daily
Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) in patients 2 years and older:
50 mg twice daily in patients 10-25 kg. 100 mg twice daily in patients more than 25 kg
Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS):
200 mg once daily single dose or 100 mg twice daily. If no effect can be seen after 6 weeks, a trial of 400 mg (single or divided doses) may be of benefit.
Acute Pain (AP):
400 mg initially, followed by 200 mg dose if needed on first day. On subsequent days, 200 mg twice daily as needed.
Primary Dysmenorrhea (PD):
400 mg initially, followed by 200 mg dose if needed on first day. On subsequent days, 200 mg twice daily as needed.
Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP):
400 mg twice daily with food, as an adjunct to usual care
How to Use Generic Celebrex (Cobix Capsules)
Take Generic Celebrex capsules exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Take Cobix with food or milk to lessen stomach upset.
You may open the capsule and sprinkle the medicine into a spoonful of applesauce to make swallowing easier. Swallow right away without chewing. Discard the empty capsule. If you do not take the mixture right away, keep it in the refrigerator and take it within 6 hours.
If you are taking the medication regularly, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose. Your blood will need to be tested often if you use this medicine long-term. Visit your doctor regularly.
Celecoxib Side Effects
The most common side effets of Celecoxib (Cobix Capsules) in arthritis trials with an incidence rate of 2% or more and greater than placebo are abdominal pain, diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence, peripheral edema, accidental injury, dizziness, pharyngitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection and rash. Get emergency medical help if you have any signs of an allergic reaction including: hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using Cobix Capsules and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:
• chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance
• black, bloody, or tarry stools, urinating less than usual or not at all
• coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds
• swelling or rapid weight gain
• nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness
• severe skin reactions; fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling
Less serious side effects of Celecoxib may include:
• upset stomach, diarrhea, bloating, gas
• dizziness, nervousness, headache, mild skin rash
• runny or stuffy nose, sore throat

Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, drowsiness, black or bloody stools, coughing up blood, shallow breathing, fainting, or coma.
Generic Celebrex (Cobix Capsules) - Contraindications
Generic Celebrex (Cobix Capsules) is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to celecoxib or sulfonamides. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of asthma, urticaria, or other allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs. Cobix Capsules should not be used during the perioperative period in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
Warnings & Precautions When Using Celecoxib Capsules
Do not use Celecoxib Capsules just before or after heart bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass graft, or CABG). It may cause life-threatening heart or circulation problems such as heart attack or stroke, especially if you use it long term.
Celecoxib (Cobix Capsules) may also cause serious effects on the stomach or intestines, including bleeding or perforation (forming of a hole). These conditions can be fatal and can occur without warning while you are taking this medicine, especially in older adults. You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to celecoxib (the active ingredient), or if you have a history of allergic reaction to aspirin, sulfa drugs, or other NSAIDs.
To make sure you can safely take this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:
• a history of heart attack, stroke, or blood clot
• heart disease, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, asthma
• a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding
• liver or kidney disease
• a seizure disorder such as epilepsy
• polyps in your nose
• a bleeding or blood clotting disorder
Avoid drinking alcohol. It may increase your risk of stomach bleeding. Avoid taking Mobic together with other NSAIDs such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin®, Advil®), naproxen (Aleve®, Naprosyn®, Naprelan®, Treximet®), celecoxib (Celebrex®), diclofenac (Arthrotec®, Cambia®, Cataflam®, Voltaren®, Flector Patch®, Pennsaid®, Solareze®), diflunisal (Dolobid ®), etodolac (Lodine ®), flurbiprofen (Ansaid®), indomethacin (Indocin®), ketoprofen (Orudis®), ketorolac (Toradol®), mefenamic acid (Ponstel®), nabumetone (Relafen®), or piroxicam (Feldene®).
Ask a doctor before using any other cold, allergy, or pain medicine. Medicines similar to this medicine are contained in many combination medicines. Taking certain products together can cause you to get too much of a certain type of drug. Check the label to see if a medicine contains an NSAID such as aspirin, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen.
Celecoxib During Pregnancy and Nursing
Celecoxib is classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category C. It is also classified as Pregnancy category D from 30 weeks of gestation onward. In late pregnancy, starting at 30 weeks gestation, Celecoxib (Generic Celebrex) should be avoided because it may cause premature closure of the ductus arteriosus.
Celecoxib should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
This medicine can cause harm to an unborn baby. Stop using this medication and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant during treatment. This medicine may cause injury and even death to the unborn baby if you take it during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Do not use this medicine without your doctor's consent if you are pregnant.
Celecoxib Use by Nursing Mothers
Published reports of a study that included a total of 12 breastfeeding women have shown low levels of Celecoxib in breast milk. The calculated average daily infant dose was 10-40 mcg/kg/day, less than 1% of the weight-based therapeutic dose for a two-year old-child. A report of two breastfed infants 17 and 22 months of age did not show any adverse effects.
Caution should be exercised when Celecoxib (Generic Celebrex) is administered to a nursing woman. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
