It is also used for Helicobacter pylori Eradication to Reduce the Risk of Duodenal Ulcer Recurrence and the treatment of Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions, Including Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. Rabicip tablets are manufactured by Cipla Ltd. in the strengths of 20 mg.

Active Ingredient present in Rabicip Tablets
The active ingredient present in Rabicip tablets is Rabeprazole Sodium . Each Rabicip tablet contains 20 mg of Rabeprazole Sodium.
Uses of Generic Aciphex (Rabicip Tablets by Cipla)
Rabeprazole (Generic Aciphex tablets) decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach and is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Rabicip is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid).
Rabicip may also be given to prevent gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), or by the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
Generic Aciphex is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms.

Rabeprazole Sodium Tablets - Dosage
The dosage of Rabeprazole Sodium tablets (Rabicip ) for the treatment of various indications is given below:
Healing of Erosive or Ulcerative GERD in Adults:
The recommended adult oral dose is one Rabeprazole Sodium 20 mg tablet to be taken once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. For those patients who have not healed completely after 8 weeks of treatment, an additional 8-week course of Rabeprazole Sodium tablets (Generic Aciphex) may be considered.
Maintenance of Healing of Erosive or Ulcerative GERD in Adults:
The recommended adult oral dose is one rabeprazole sodium 20 mg delayed-release tablet to be taken once daily. During studies conducted the treatment was continued for 12 months.
Treatment of Symptomatic GERD in Adults:
The recommended adult oral dose is one Rabeprazole Sodium 20 mg tablet to be taken once daily for 4 weeks. If symptoms do not go away completely after 4 weeks, an additional course of treatment may be considered by your doctor.
Healing of Duodenal Ulcers in Adults:
The recommended adult oral dose is one Rabeprazole Sodium 20 mg tablet to be taken once daily after the morning meal for a period up to 4 weeks. Most patients being treated for duodenal ulcer heal within 4 weeks. A few patients may require additional therapy with Generic Aciphex to achieve complete healing.
Helicobacter pylori Eradication to Reduce the Risk of Duodenal Ulcer Recurrence :
Rabeprazole Sodium tablets in combination with Novamox capsules (Amoxicillin) and Clarithromycin as a three-drug regimen, is indicated for the treatment of patients with H. pylori infection and duodenal ulcer disease (active or history within the past 5 years) to eradicate H. pylori. Eradication of H. pylori has been proved to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence.
Three Drug Regimen:
Generic Aciphex (Rabicip Tablets) 20 mg, Amoxicillin 1000 mg and Clarithromycin 500 mg. All three medicines should be taken twice daily with morning and evening meals for 7 days.
Treatment of Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions, Including Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome in Adults:
The dosage of Rabeprazole Sodium tablets in patients with pathologic hypersecretory conditions had to be adjusted as per the requirements of the the individual patient. The recommended adult oral initial dose is 60 mg once daily. The doses should be adjusted to meet the individual patient needs and should continue for as long as clinically indicated. Some patients may require divided doses. Some patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome have been treated continuously with Generic Aciphex (Rabicip tablets) for up to 1 year.
Short-term Treatment of Symptomatic GERD in Adolescent Patients, 12 Years of Age and Older:
The recommended oral dose for adolescents, 12 years of age and older, is one 20 mg tablet of Rabicip once daily for up to 8 weeks.
Elderly, Renally and Hepatically Impaired Patients:
No dosage adjustment is required in elderly patients, in patients with renal disease or in patients with mild-to-moderate hepatic impairment. Administration of Rabeprazole tablets to patients with mild to moderate liver impairment resulted in increased exposure and decreased elimination. Due to the lack of clinical data on Rabeprazole (Rabicip tablets) in patients having severe hepatic impairment, caution should be exercised in those patients.
How to Use Generic Aciphex (Rabicip Tablets)
Take Rabicip by Cipla exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
This medicine is usually given for 4 to 8 weeks only. Your doctor may recommend a second course of treatment if you need additional healing time.
Take each dose with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. This medicine should be taken at least one hour before a meal.
You may open the delayed-release capsule and sprinkle the medicine into a spoonful of pudding or applesauce to make swallowing easier. Swallow this mixture right away without chewing. Do not save the mixture for later use. Discard the empty capsule.
This medicine can be given through a nasogastric (NG) feeding tube. Open the capsule and sprinkle the medicine into a 60-milliliter syringe. Mix in 50 milliliters of water. Place the plunger into the syringe and shake the mixture well. Make sure there is no medicine granules stuck in the tip of the syringe. Attach the syringe to the NG tube and push the plunger down to empty the syringe into the tube. Then flush the tube with more water to wash the contents down.
Take this medicine for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the condition is fully treated. Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse while you are taking this medicine.
Rabeprazole Sodium Side effects
The common side effects of Rabeprazole Sodium (Rabicip)observed during studies conducted on adults (4 to 8 weeks) undergoing treatment at a rate greater than 2% and greater than placebo are pain, pharyngitis, flatulence, infection,and constipation.
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to this medicine such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Stop using this medicine and call your doctor at once if you have any of these symptoms of low magnesium such as:
• confusion
• uneven heart rate
• jerking muscle movements
• muscle weakness or limp feeling
• seizure (convulsions).
Less serious side effects may include:
• headache
• drowsiness
• diarrhea
• nausea, stomach pain, gas, constipation
• dry mouth
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
Overdose symptoms may include confusion, headache, drowsiness, blurred vision, fast heartbeat, nausea, dry mouth, sweating, flushing, shortness of breath, tremor, loss of coordination, or seizure (convulsions).
Rabicip Tablets (Generic Aciphex) Contraindications
Rabicip tablets are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole Sodium, substituted benzimidazoles or any inactive ingredient present in Rabicip tablets.
Warnings & Precautions When Using Generic Aciphex (Rabicip Tablets)
You should not take Rabicip known as Generic Aciphex if you are allergic to esomeprazole or to any other benzimidazole medication such as albendazole (Albenza), or mebendazole (Vermox).
To make sure you can safely take this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions:
• severe liver disease or
• low levels of magnesium in your blood
Taking a proton pump inhibitor such as this medicine may increase your risk of bone fracture in the hip, wrist, or spine. This effect has occurred mostly in people who have taken the medication long term or at high doses, and in those who are age 50 and older. It is not clear whether this medicine is the actual cause of an increased risk of fracture. Before you take this medication, tell your doctor if you have osteoporosis or osteopenia (low bone mineral density).
Some conditions are treated with a combination of this medicine and antibiotics. Use all medications as directed by your doctor. Do not change your doses or medication schedule without your doctor's advice.
Heartburn is often confused with the first symptoms of a heart attack. Seek emergency medical attention if you have chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, and a general ill feeling.

Rabeprazole Sodium During Pregnancy
Rabeprazole Sodium has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. There have been no adequate and well-controlled studies conducted with Rabeprazole Sodium in pregnant women.
There was no evidence of teratogenicity in animal reproduction studies with Rabeprazole at 13 and 8 times the human exposure at the recommended dose for GERD, in rats and rabbits, respectively. Since animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, this medicine should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment with this medicine.
Rabeprazole Sodium During Nursing
It is not known if Rabeprazole Sodium is excreted in human milk. However, it has been observed that Rabeprazole is present in rat milk. It is not known whether Rabeprazole passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Because many medicines are excreted in milk, caution should be exercised when Rabeprazole Sodium is administered to a nursing mother. Do not use this medicine without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
