Active Ingredient present in Eutrig-HP HCG injection
The active ingredient present in Eutrig-HP HCG injection is Human Chorionic Gonadotropin. Each vial of HCG injection contains 2000 iu, 5000 iu or 10000 iu of purified Human Chorionic Gonadotropin.
What is Eutrig-HP HCG injection used for?
Eutrig-HP contains a hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), which is also produced naturally by the body. It is used to treat women, who have a problem with ovulation (release of an egg).
This drug is also used along with other fertility medicines, to help produce eggs in women who are undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF). In males, it is used to treat conditions like delayed puberty, Prepubertal cryptorchidism not due to anatomic obstruction, selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and to increase sperm count.
In general, HCG is thought to induce testicular descent in situations when descent would have occurred at puberty. HCG thus may help to predict whether or not orchiopexy will be needed in the future. Although, in some cases, descent following HCG administration is permanent, in most cases the response is temporary. Therapy is usually instituted between the ages of 4 and 9.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin HCG injections are NOT approved for weight loss. They are also not approved for over-the-counter use, nor have they been proved to work for weight loss. HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. there is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or "normal" distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie restricted diets. HCG medicines are, in fact, required to carry a label from the FDA noting that the medication is not effective for weight loss.
Why Are Eutrig-HP HCG Injections Given During Pregnancy?
Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a hormone that supports the normal development of an egg in a woman's ovary, and stimulates the release of the egg during ovulation. Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is used to cause ovulation and to treat infertility in women, and to increase sperm count in men.HCG injections are ideal for women with a history of miscarriages due to low HCG or women whose body is incapable of producing enough HCG naturally throughout pregnancy. This can help avoid miscarriages in women.
Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) - Dosage
Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is for intramuscular use only. The dosage regimen employed in any particular case will depend upon the indication for the use, the age and weight of the patient, and the doctor’s preference. The following Eutrig-HP HCG injection dosage regimens have been recommended by various authorities:
Prepubertal cryptorchidism not due to anatomical obstruction.:
Therapy is usually instituted in children between the ages of 4 and 9.
1. 4,000 USP Units three times weekly for three weeks.
2. 5,000 USP Units every second day for four injections.
3. 15 injections for 500 to 1,000 USP Units over a period of six weeks.
4. 500 USP Units three times weekly for four to six weeks.
If this course of treatment is not successful, another series is begun one month later, giving 1,000 USP Units per injection.
Selected cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism in males:
1. 500 to 1,000 USP Units three times a week for three weeks, followed by the same dose twice a week for three weeks.
2. 4,000 USP Units three times weekly for six to nine months, following which the dosage may be reduced to 2,000 USP Units three times weekly for an additional three months.
Induction of ovulation and pregnancy in the anovulatory, infertile woman in whom the cause of anovulation is secondary and not due to primary ovarian failure and who has been appropriately pretreated with human menotropins:
5,000 to 10,000 USP Units one day following the last dose of menotropins.
Where Do You Inject Eutrig-HP?
Eutrig-HP HCG injection is injected in the supervision of medical healthcare professional only.

Eutrig-HP HCG injection Contraindications
Eutrig-HP HCG injection is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or any inactive ingredient present in Eutrig-HP HCG injection. Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Chorionic Gonadotropin for Injection), is also contraindicated in the treatment of:
pituitary tumour, ovarian tumour, prostatic carcinoma and androgen-dependent neoplasms, uncontrolled endocrine disorders (e.g., hyperprolactinemia, thyroid and adrenal dysfunction);
in female, primary ovarian failure (ovarian dysgenesis and premature menopause), tubal occlusion nless the patient is undergoing superovulation for in vitro fertilization;
urinary-hCG (u-hCG) will not be effective in men, in cases where the FSH level is raised as this is indicative of primary testicular failure;
u-hCG is not effective and is not indicated for weight reduction;
precocious puberty;
active thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic event;
malformations of sexual organs incompatible with pregnancy;
fibroid tumours of the uterus incompatible with pregnancy;
prepubertal boys with signs of anatomical obstruction;
known or suspected sex hormone-dependent tumors, such as ovary, breast and uterine carcinoma in female and prostatic or breast carcinoma in the male.
Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) - Warnings and Precautions
Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) should be used in conjunction with human menopausal gonadotropins only by physicians experienced with infertility problems who are familiar with the criteria for patient selection, contraindications, warnings, precautions, and adverse reactions for menotropins.
The principal serious adverse reactions during this use are: (1) Ovarian hyperstimulation, a syndrome of sudden ovarian enlargement, ascites with or without pain, and/or pleural effusion; (2) Enlargement of preexisting ovarian cysts or rupture of ovarian cysts with resultant hemoperitoneum; (3) Multiple births, and (4) Arterial thromboembolism.
Anaphylaxis and other hypersensitivity reactions have been reported with urinary-derived hCG products. Induction of androgen secretion by HCG may induce precocious puberty in patients treated for cryptorchidism.
Treatment with this medicine should be discontinued if signs of precocious puberty occur. Since androgens may cause fluid retention, Eutrig-HP HCG injection should be used with caution in patients with cardiac or renal disease, epilepsy, migraine, or asthma.
Eutrig-HP HCG injection can cross react in the radioimmunoassay of gonadotropins, especially luteinizing hormone. Each individual laboratory should establish the degree of crossreactivity with their gonadotropin assay. Physicians should make the laboratory aware of patients on HCG if gonadotropin levels are requested.
There have been sporadic reports of testicular tumors in otherwise healthy young men receiving Human Chorionic Gonadotropin injection for secondary infertility. A causative relationship between HCG and tumor development in these men has not been established.
Defects of forelimbs and of the central nervous system, as well as alterations in sex ratio, have been reported in mice on combined gonadotropin and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin regimens. The dose of gonadotropin used was intended to induce superovulation. No mutagenic effect has been clearly established in humans.
Chance Of Having Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS)
Treatment with gonadotropic hormones like Eutrig-HP 2000iu, 5000iu and 10000iu may cause ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). This is a serious medical condition where the ovaries are overly stimulated and the growing follicles become larger than normal. In rare cases, severe OHSS may be life-threatening. Therefore, close supervision by your doctor is very important. To check the effects of treatment, your doctor will do ultrasound scans of your ovaries.Your doctor may also check blood hormone levels.
OHSS causes fluid to build up suddenly in your stomach and chest areas and can cause blood clots to form. Call your doctor right away if you have:
severe abdominal swelling and pain in the stomach area (abdomen)
feeling sick (nausea)
vomiting
sudden weight gain due to fluid build-up
diarrhea
decreased urine output
trouble breathing
Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) Side Effects
The possible side effects of Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) include Headache, irritability, restlessness, depression, fatigue, edema, precocious puberty, gynecomastia and pain at the site of injection.
Hypersensitivity reactions both localized and systemic in nature, including erythema, urticaria, rash, angioedema, dyspnea and shortness of breath, have been reported. The relationship of these allergic-like events to the polypeptide hormone or the diluent containing benzyl alcohol is not clear.
Eutrig-HP HCG injection Overdosage
Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have used too much of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). An overdose of HCG is not expected to produce life-threatening symptoms.
The acute toxicity of urinary gonadotropin medications has been shown to be very low. Despite this, there exists a possibility that too high a dosage of hCG (Eutrig-HP HCG injection) can lead to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Injection (Eutrig-HP HCG injection) During Pregnancy
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Injection has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category X. Do not use this medicine without your doctor's consent in case you are pregnant. Stop using this medication and inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant during treatment.
Defects of forelimbs and central nervous system and alterations in sex ratio have been reported in mice receiving combined gonadotropin and chorionic gonadotropin therapy in dosages to induce superovulation. Multiple ovulations with resulting plural gestations (mostly twins) have been reported to occur in approximately 20% of pregnancies when conception has followed chorionic gonadotropin therapy.
The potential for causing similar effects in humans has not been determined. Chorionic gonadotropin may cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman.
Nursing Considerations
It is not known whether Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is excreted in human milk. Because many medicines are excreted in human milk, caution should be exercised when HCG injection is administered to a nursing woman.
Do not use Eutrig-HP HCG injection (Human chorionic Gonadotropin injection) without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
