What are Etizolam Tablets Used For?
Etilaam tablets, manufactured by Intas Pharmaceuticals, contain Etizolam, which mimics the properties of an anti-convulsant. Etizolam tablets are typically administered as oral therapy in adult patients who suffer from medical conditions such as anxiety disorders. Etizolam tablets are also administered to patients for the short-term treatment of insomnia. Etizolam tablets are also useful for the treatment of situational anxiety such as panic attacks, phobic neurosis. Etilaam Dosage - How to Take Etizolam Tablets?
You should use Etilaam tablets exactly as recommended by your doctor. Your doctor may suggest a dosage of Etilaam tablets depending on your medical requirement, body weight, other medical conditions, and current medications. Try to maintain a regular schedule for the medication such that you take Etilaam tablets at the same time every day, to get the maximum benefit of the medication.
Your doctor may alter the dosage of Etilaam tablets and dosage period depending on your response to treatment. The maximum daily dosage of Etilaam should not exceed 3 mg. The recommended dosage for anxiety disorders is 0.25-0.5 mg Etizolam twice daily. The suggested dosage for panic disorders is 0.5 mg twice daily. Doctors recommend a dosage of 1-2 mg Etizolam daily during bedtime for patients suffering from insomnia (inability to sleep).
A treatment course constituting Etilaam tablets should not be prescribed for more than 12 weeks. Do not discontinue the course of treatment with Etilaam tablets without consulting your doctor. The treatment with Etilaam tablets should not be stopped abruptly. Instead, you should gradually decrease the dosage of Etilaam tablets to avoid the development of any unnecessary withdrawal effects.
Etilaam Mechanism of Action – How Does Etizolam Work?
The mechanism of action of Etilaam (Generic Etizolam tablets) is similar to that of other hypnotic –anxiolytic benzodiazepine derivatives. The mechanism of Etizolam is exerted through its inhibitory GABA neurotransmission. However, the major distinction between Etilaam tablets and other benzodiazepine derivatives is its selective and high affinity binding to the a2 subunit of the postsynaptic GABA receptor subtype. This a2 subunit activation results in specific anxiolytic effect. Further, Etilaam tablets are suggested to possess less potential for causing rebound anxiety on drug withdrawal because it does not cause a2 subunit up-regulation as compared to other benzodiazepine derivatives such as lorazepam.
Etilaam tablets produce relatively strong muscle relaxant effect through its effect on the central spinal cord. It has been found advantageous in easing the symptoms of tension headache, cervical spondylosis, lumbar disease and cancer pain.
Etilaam tablets is also claimed to increase intra-synaptic concentrations of neurotransmitters, serotonin and norepinephrine, through dual blockade of neuronal reuptake of these neurotransmitters. This mechanism indicates that Etilaam tablets may have additional antidepressant action. Having both anxiolytic and antidepressant properties indicates that Etilaam tablets may be beneficial in the treatment of anxiety disorders with combined depression.

Etilaam Interactions:
Before beginning the oral therapy of Etilaam tablets, please inform your doctor of all your current medications including prescription drugs, over the counter medications, mineral supplements, herbal products, and vitamins. The dosage of Etilaam tablets should be reduced while taking such drugs simultaneously. On the other hand, drugs such as carbamazepine decrease the concentration of the drug in the blood by increasing its metabolism in the system resulting in the speedy elimination of Etizolam from the body.
