The active ingredient present in Cialis tablets is Tadalafil. Each Cialis tablet contains 10 mg or 20 mg of Tadalafil.

Uses of Cialis Tablets

Cialis is used to treat male sexual function problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction). In combination with sexual stimulation, Tadalafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help a man get and maintain an erection.

Tadalafil tablets (Cialis) also used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or BPH). It helps to relieve symptoms of BPH such as difficulty in beginning the flow of urine, weak stream, and the need to urinate frequently or urgently (including during the middle of the night). Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) - Dosage

Cialis tablets may be taken with or without food. The dosage for the various indications is given below.

Cialis for use as needed:
The maximum recommended dose of Cialis is 20 mg, taken prior to anticipated sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day. Cialis may be taken between 30 minutes and 36 hours prior to anticipated sexual activity.
ED: Starting dose: 10 mg as needed prior to sexual activity. Increase to 20 mg or decrease to 5 mg based upon efficacy/tolerability. Improves erectile function compared to placebo up to 36 hours post dose. Not to be taken more than once per day.

Cialis for once daily use:

In these patients the recommended dose is 5 mg taken once a day at approximately the same time of day. The dose must not exceed 5 mg daily.
ED: 2.5 mg taken once daily, without regard to timing of sexual activity. May increase to 5 mg based upon efficacy and tolerability.
BPH: 5 mg, taken at approximately the same time every day.
ED and BPH: 5 mg, taken at approximately the same time every day.

Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) Storage

Store Cialis tablets at controlled room temperature (59°F to 86°F, 15°C to 30°C). Do not store above 30°.C. Protect from light. Do not store Cialis or any other medicine in the bathroom or near a sink. Do not leave it on a window sill or in the car. Heat and dampness can destroy some medicines.

Cialis Contraindications

Cialis tablets are contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to Tadalafil or any inactive ingredient present in tablets. Cialis are contraindicated in the following cases:
Administration of Cialis to patients using any form of organic nitrate is contraindicated. Cialis was demonstrated to potentiate the hypotensive effect of nitrates.

Warnings and Precautions

The warnings and precautions when undergoing treatment with Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) are given below:

• Patients should not use Cialis if sex is inadvisable due to cardiovascular status
• Use of Cialis with alpha blockers, antihypertensives or substantial amounts of alcohol (5 units or more) may lead to hypotension
• Cialis is not recommended in combination with alpha blockers for the treatment of BPH because efficacy of the combination has not been adequately studied and because of the risk of blood pressure lowering.
• Caution is advised when Cialis is used as a treatment for ED in men taking alpha blockers.
• In case taking potent inhibitors of CYP3A4, dose should be adjusted: Cialis for use as needed: less than or equal to 10 mg every 72 hours. For once daily use: dose not to exceed 2.5 mg.
• Patients should seek emergency treatment if an erection lasts for more than 4 hours. Use Cialis with caution in patients predisposed to priapism.
• Patients should stop Cialis and seek medical care if a sudden loss of vision occurs in one or both eyes, which could be a sign of Non Arteritic Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION). Discuss increased risk of NAION in patients with history of NAION.
• Patients should stop Cialis and seek prompt medical attention in the event of sudden decrease or loss of hearing.
• Before strating treatment with Cialis for BPH, consideration should be given to other urological conditions that may cause similar symptoms.
• Administration of Cialis to patients who are using any form of organic nitrate is contraindicated.

Effects on ability to drive and use machines

Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) has negligible influence on the ability to drive or use machines. Although the frequency of reports of dizziness in placebo and Tadalafil arms in clinical trials was similar, patients should be aware of how they react to Cialis tablets before driving or using machines.

Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) and Alcohol

Patients must be informed that both alcohol and Cialis, a PDE5 inhibitor, act as mild vasodilators. When mild vasodilators are taken in combination, blood-pressure-lowering effects of each individual compound could be increased.

Therefore, doctors should inform patients that substantial consumption of alcohol (e.g., 5 units or more) in combination with Cialis can increase the potential for orthostatic signs and symptoms, including increase in heart rate, decrease in standing blood pressure, dizziness, and headache.

Cialis Side Effects

Most common Cialis side effects with an incidence rate of 2% or more include headache, dyspepsia, back pain, myalgia, nasal congestion, flushing, and pain in limb.

In case you experience any of the following Cialis (Tadalafil Tablets) side effects stop using the medicine and seek medical help immediately:

• allergic reactions including rashes (frequency uncommon)
• chest pain - do not use nitrates but seek immediate medical assistance (frequency uncommon)
• priapism, a prolonged and possibly painful erection after taking Cialis (frequency rare). If you have such an erection, which lasts continuously for more than 4 hours you should contact a doctor immediately.
• sudden loss of vision (frequency rare).

Other side effects that have been reported:
Common (observed in 1 to 10 in every 100 patients) - headache, back pain, muscle aches, pain in arms and legs, facial flushing, nasal congestion, and indigestion.

Uncommon (observed in 1 to 10 in every 1,000 patients) - dizziness, stomach ache, feeling sick, being sick (vomiting), reflux, blurred vision, eye pain, difficulty in breathing, presence of blood in urine, prolonged erection, pounding heartbeat sensation, a fast heart rate, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, nose bleeds, ringing in the ears, swelling of the hands, feet or ankles and feeling tired.

Rare (observed in 1 to 10 in every 10,000 patients)
-fainting, seizures and passing memory loss, swelling of the eyelids, red eyes, sudden decrease or loss of hearing, hives (itchy red welts on the surface of the skin), penile bleeding, presence of blood in semen and increased sweating.Heart attack and stroke have also been reported rarely in men taking Cialis .
Most of these men had known heart problems before taking this medicine.
Partial, temporary, or permanent decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes has been rarely reported.

Some additional rare side effects have been reported in men taking Cialis that were not seen in clinical trials. These include:- migraine, swelling of the face, serious allergic reaction which causes swelling of the face or throat, serious skin rashes, some disorders affecting blood flow to the eyes, irregular heartbeats, angina and sudden cardiac death.
The side effect dizziness has been reported more frequently in men over 75 years of age taking Cialis.
Diarrhoea has been reported more frequently in men over 65 years of age taking Cialis.

Overdosage

Single doses up to 500 mg of Tadalafil (Cialis tablets) have been given to healthy subjects, and multiple daily doses up to 100 mg for 21 days have been given to patients. Adverse events were similar to those seen at lower doses.

In cases of overdose, standard supportive measures should be taken as required. Hemodialysis contributes negligibly to Tadalafil elimination, since Tadalafil is highly bound to plasma proteins.

Tadalafil (Cialis Tablets) During Pregnancy

Tadalafil (Cialis tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. Cialis (Tadalafil) is not indicated for use in women. There are no adequate and well controlled studies of Cialis use in pregnant women. Animal reproduction studies in rats and mice revealed no evidence of fetal harm. Animal reproduction studies showed no evidence of teratogenicity, embryotoxicity, or fetotoxicity when Tadalafil was administered to pregnant rats or mice at exposures up to 11 times the maximum recommended human dose (MRHD) of 20 mg/day during organogenesis.

In one of two perinatal/postnatal developmental studies in rats, postnatal pup survival decreased following maternal exposure to Tadalafil doses greater than 10 times the MRHD based on Tadalafil exposure (AUC). Signs of maternal toxicity occurred at doses greater than 16 times the MRHD based on AUC.

Tadalafil (Cialis tablets) Nursing Considerations

Tadalafil (Cialis tablets) is not indicated for use in women. It is not known whether Tadalafil is excreted into human milk. While Tadalafil or some metabolite of Tadalafil was excreted into rat milk, medication levels in animal breast milk may not accurately predict levels of medicine in human breast milk. Tadalafil and/or its metabolites were secreted into the milk in lactating rats at concentrations approximately 2.4-fold greater than found in the plasma.

Can Tadalafil Cure Erectile Dysfunction Permanently?

Tadalafil (Cialis tablets) helps with achieving or maintaining erections but do not address the underlying cause of Erectile Dysfunction or ED. For example, Tadalafil increases blood flow to the penis, which can provide short-term relief from ED.

A reduction in blood pressure throughout the body may occur because Tadalafil relaxes blood vessels (arteries) throughout the body. Will Cialis Work With Alcohol?
